Carton / Carlton SCTs?
      #45848 - 01/26/04 03:01 PM

I'm at it again...
On the French equivalent of astromart, where as you might guess I am now pretty well known, there is a fellow selling a 130mm aperture / 1200mm f.l. schmidt-cassegrain which he says is a "Carlton". I guess it's either a Celestron (unlikely) or a "Carton". Does somebody know if Carton ever did SCTs? I thought they only did refractors. I'm almost feeling I'd buy it out of curiosity...

Well, I'm working on a deal with the website, all ads have to be waived by me before they are allowed to go online!

And to be honest, I did thing JCR would have an idea on this subject!

I'd be almost disappointed if it turned out to be some old C5...

Hi, Matt (and Tom)!

I wish I did have something to contribute. Here in Ohio we don't see much exotic stuff. I've never seen an SCT in that size range except the C5. I'm eagerly awaiting your report on what it turns out to be. My guesses range from a C5 to an F/9 achromat.

If even you don't know John, then it's hopeless.
The guy says it's an SCT... I'd also bet it's a C5, now.
Been there, done that...

OK We're getting closer...
I still don't know the brand but I have a few pics...
So it's not a C5 obviously, and it's yellow like the Astronomix / Clavé scopes...

Of course there's a catch... look at the corrector! But I'm all for garage-sale class telescope hunting so it does not matter

Carton SCTs? new [Re: LivingNDixie]
      #46366 - 01/27/04 04:29 PM

This just in... the current owner tells me it's a Carton. I already knew little about Carton refractors, but nothing about their SCTs...

Hmmm. That's a new one on me. Bet it'd be a challenge to find a corrector!

I think I'm going to buy it and keep posting about what an 'intriguing' and 'interesting' telescope it is until you can't hold it and need to buy it from me, John!

Naw, that'd never work. Wait a minute - I never had one of those!
