Fine observation! I find that the names of all the stars is in the way for the beautiful sketch...

Thats a great idea for a sketch! I observed it by myself and regret not to see Saturn en the split Porrimma at one view. May be that will be possible if they are closer. If sky wants I'll try to sketch it too.

Thanks voyager75, I enjoyed seeing yor' fine sketch. After a long wheather related absence from the night sky I went out one night this past week to observe an say that sight.....'what is that?'. After a few confused seconds with my 5year old son next to me wondering what that confused look on his fathers face was all about, I realized it had to be Saturn and something. I didn't get to observe it beyond that, but thanks for you post, it ends the mystery for me.
Clearskys,
Dave

This could be solved by using the technique that Jeremy Perez often employs--when you mouse over the sketch, the labels appear.

Yesterday I had the chance to observe Saturn and Porrima with my 8 cm Apo. I have very sharp eyepiece which showed the planet and the split double at opposite edges of the FOV. I saw some raw details at Saturn - I would have seen more in the center of the FOV. Magification was 137x.
The image is mirror reversed and inverted.

Voyager75,

Another excellent Porrima and Saturn conjunction observation. It is a treat to watch the two objects change positions over a few days. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos
