Zhumell Encoder Mounts (Sky Commander, Argo Navis)
      #4607872 - 05/28/11 03:27 PM

I've seen a few threads talking about mounting Alt encoders to Zhumell Dobs with the new style alt bearings (without springs).

I have a Z12 and have been digging around for some kind of solution. I thought I would share what I found.

I'm not affiliated with this company. I also haven't done business with them yet, so I can't give any feedback -- good, bad, or ugly.

The sales page for the Z12 kit:
http://www.wildcard-innovations.com.au/kits/pn-zh-12b-spec_describe.html

Installation Documentation:

Hope this helps...

-Steve

I just picked up a set of Losmandy G-11 encoders and their Argo Navis unit from them. Top notch customer service. Great support and it arrived to the States faster than most of my domestic orders.

IMO if they say they have something to retrofit onto your Z12, it probably both works and is of excellent quality.

Also - if you decide to give Argo Navis a try with your Dob, make sure you read and follow the users manual carefully - especially when first setting it up.
