Ok So...I guess I get to be first in the new Thread Location!

Was anyone able to follow through with Supplying a camera to Craig Stark to try getting Nebulosity Support? Seems to me this would be a real game changer for those of us who can't purchase MaximDL. How long would he need the camera?

I might be willing since this would directly benefit me(nebulosity user)

I hope everyone finds it here. I think the idea was to permit the vendor to continue to participate.

I think I'm gonna try the Surplus Shed shutter.

I wrote him and offered to send mine but he said he has no time to integrate the software. He said it would take a while with testing etc. He provided the SDK and some suggestions. I tried to get the cam to ID but no joy. You really need to have good programming skill to write a script in order for to get the cam to ID. I just don't have that kind of skill.

I hope folks find it here too. I feel a lil like we were moved into obscurity.

What does the surplus shed shutter look like? Gotta link?

It's this one (also on ebay for about $10 less). Folks on this thread seemed to find it electrically compatible and the coil can be moved outside to keep the flange close to the chip. Flange-to-chip depth is a concern here because I'll need to use a field flattener with it and the ones I have lying around only want about 50mm spacing.

Yep, that one has worked best for many of us. You won't have any problem getting that one going.

Funny you mention the field flattener, I wil need one with 2 of my scopes but haven't been able to get off the EDQ yet in order to try the cam out on the C11 or the 5 inch. Weather has been horrible. Have a Horse head about 3/4 done. Need green and clear luminesence. Just can't get the weather to get er done.

Any trouble with that EDQ focuser sagging? Mine's been rock solid but I have used it only with a much lighter camera.

Naw, the EDQ seems rock solid with it.

What coding language is it? Can you pass what he suggested and the SDK to me? I'm a little rusty but my dearest is pretty good! She might be willing to guide my hand, at the very least.

Cool, I got it. I should have my camera day after tomorrow. In the mean time I'll start looking this over...And chat with the woman who will undoubtably hold me as an indentured servant over this for a long time to come...

I can say without question, the camera lens connection on the shuttered units accepts a Nikkor 180mm ED lens..

Well, I guess I can now reveal how I decided to solve the shutter issue. I bought the one complete Camera kit from David and I bought a second camera(only) from another seller that has the shutter and the Nikon lens mount intact. It was a gamble on the second camera but my intent was always that it might be a bad cam. near as I can tell at this stage the shutter is completely functional, but the camera is throwing an error. Meanwhile the camera from david is not throwing any errors and seems to be fine. Looks like I'll be transferring the shutter and lens mount to the AIT camera.

I will test the second camera after removal of the shutter just to be certain that it's not involved it the error.

wouldn't if figure... I unplugged the shutter, tested No error. so either the shutter (wich opened and closed) is drawing power causing the error, or something on the board that is part of the shutter circuit is bad. at least, if nothing else I don't have to deal with constructing a shutter housing and lens/telescope mount. more testing yet to be done....
