BTW, have the cam plugged in and running when you run the program, you should see the camera ID in the text section during the program start up. The utility text says somthing to the effect of camera 1 on.....

The German type seem to have gotten most of us up and running quickly as no electronic mods are necessary.

http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/m3486.html

EBay still has them.

Joe:
the solenoids I'll be getting are pull type. it's a c type frame with 4 small threaded mounting holes on the bottom to secure with small screws through the shutter from the underside. (mine only uses 3 of the mounting holes)
end to end its 25mm and just over 12mm wide and 12mm tall. the shaft/plunger is 3/16 of an inch thick with a 1.5mm hole to link to the shutter cam.

remember because mine are essentially special order I've got two weeks expected till they are completed. the stuff they have listed online "I'm assuming" maybe they have in stock and don't need to build it? so if you look at their catalog and see one that fits the bill better than what I am getting(very likely), let me know "soon" and I'll call and add it to my order.

Robert,

Did the solenoids show up?

Got a little distracted by other things, but finally had time to try the Quantix in a different PC. No conflicts in this one - card and software all installed fine with no errors.

On the other hand, RS Image comes up but doesn't see the camera. The fan in the camera does run but there's no other sign of life.

John,

Did the cam ever ID?

No, I never got a response from the camera, only the PCI card. David's gonna let me exchange it (I didn't start the shutter mod yet; wanted to make sure everything worked first). I suspect a power supply or PCI card problem but without working parts to substitute I can't tell. I'll get it packed up this weekend. I'm still looking forward very much to having a 6303E camera.

John,

Please see SBarden's posts on page 10 and 11 of the thread. He has a detaied discription for ID of the camera. Did you try that?

If not, please do. The camera you have may be fine. They are just finniky the first time up.

Yes, I tried that and everything else I could think of. No big deal, stuff happens. I'll have a working camera soon enough.

Ok, sorry the one you received didn't work out. David is meticulous about the QC before they leave his shop but I am sure a bad one can slip through now and then. As you mentioned David is a good guy and moves to put things right quickly. Thank heaven for that.

I called Jose about the solenoids today but just got the answering machine. I left a message and will follow up with an email as well.

I recieved a used Dell Latitude D630 laptop today for the PCI_expansion docking unit I picked up prior. I'll play with it this weekend and see if I can get the card and camera up on it.

Thanks Robert. Lets us know how the laptop/docking unit works out. I think that combo has proved to be a good match.

let me try to put this into the right words... My first experience with connecting the card and camera on a deasktop computer was flawless. It worked from the get go. I expected much the same with this Dell Laptop with the PCI expansion dock. I threw caution to the wind and installed the software that came on the cd... it came up, recognized the card, installed the software...but when I rebooted and connected the camera >all was a lost cause. froze the computer on boot. uninstalled, rebooted, installed the "old"(2693) software, shut down, connected the dock, booted, annnnnnnd

we have success. Dell D630 Centrino C2 T7300 2Ghz (currently 1 gig of RAM) 100gig HD $170 + $10 for the PCI expansion dock.
