Thanks very much guys. These images were indeed taken with the standard Alt./Az mount, on the stock tripod sitting on my elevated backyard deck.
Yes the first image is indeed a part of ngc6992 the Eastern Viel nebula.

Those are two great photos John.

First imagem Veil Nebula - there is some field distortion apparent in the image, the stars being elongated from a 'central radiant' (for want of a better term). Is this due to the multiple images / stacking process?

A fine image nevertheless.

Your M27 is a gem.

The 8 SE is not generally considered an optimal platform for deepsky imaging. However with a dedicated astronmy video camera such as the Mallincam Xtreme it can be fun . The images of course are not cutting edge award winners but fun anyway to gather and process.
So I will present several images I took last night in order as they were accumulated at the scope.
Most of the images were 14 sec exposures and stacked and derotated in Registax. They averaged about 20 frames per picture.
All of them were obtained remotely that is as I sat and ate popcorn at my kitchen table. And all were done with a bone stock 8se.

I hope that you enjoyed viewing my last night's imaging session (Sept 6th). By the way the green glow in the corners in some of the images is a camera artifact ( amp glow) and also in imaging the 2 planetary nebulae I used the cameras built in digital zoom feature. Thanks for viewing my pictures.
John

And well done to say the least. At those short exposures, you have gained maximum bang for the equipment and once you start seeing colors and structure / features in your images, mission accomplished.

They are a lovely set of image. Hard to believe that they were taken with a standard 8se.
There has been some fine quality images taken with the 8se and yours are right up there with the best.

Well done indeed.

Regards. Peter.

You know, I love looking at other's pics, but one of my favs that never fails is M57. Even in a scope the smoky ring against the blackness of space is something of Awe.

Good job nomosnow!!

Good Evening Gang,
Was just going thru some of AP images that I've taken and came across this one. It is of a Total Lunar Eclipse at near maximum that had occurred on Feb 20, 2008.
The shot was taken Afocal on a stock NexStar 8SE using a Fuji S5200 Digital Camera and a 25mm EP. The exp time was 15sec and believe ISO was 100.

Thanks,
Pete
