Agree with Art, thats a clean sharp image of the "Bay of Rainbows" (Sinus Iridum) Haseeb, the best i have seen in a good while, makes me wonder what the smallest crater size is in that image, excellent image

regards,

Tom.

Despite the moon glow I got a decent shot of Jupiter and Io together like the chums they are tonight....

About 800 frames 3X barlowed with the Neximage cam, wxAstrocapture, 1/25, F5, and Registax 6.

Thanks Art and Tom. I hope Tim's excellent Jupiter attempt does not escape us as I am guilty of posting my images in haste.

apologies to Tim for missing out on his Jupiter capture, i had not gone back to the previous page and so had missed it, nice capture Tim and great scale, not easy to capture Jupiters moons ,so very nice indeed

Also missed your Jupiter Haseeb showing the GRS and junior, some nice detail in the cloud structure, and as with Tims capture good scale.

You guy`s almost tempt me to set up my planetary set up, but its just to much hassle swapping out different OTA`s and possibly upsetting my well tuned alignment, maybe then i need a second mount.

regards,

Tom.

Haseeb,

Your SI shot is one of the best lunar images I've seen. Right up there with Alex Post's shot of Plato from a couple of years ago!

Late to congratulate you, Tim, on a fine Jupiter and Io capture !

Equally so Maverick, (Haseeb), on some stunning Moon landscapes of the Sinus Iridum and the Clavius area !

A good attempt at a X3 Barlowed Jupiter too if not a little noisy. Nevertheless with a little filtering etc. I think there seems to be a lot of data hidden within it.

Best regards to you both,
Tel

Wow Tel, that's an excellent image of Jupiter. Justice to its size.

Hi Haseeb,

Many thanks, but you are aware that it is YOUR image ? OK rotated, bur it's certainly yours !

Many thanks for letting me "loose" on it !

Best regards,
Tel

NB. I can't produce any imaging of my own making due to our annual, English monsoon season which seems, of latter years, to last from around January to December !

I didn't realize that was mine. Yeah the rotation got me as well as the mention of X3 barlowed, but still...I find it hard to believe.

Hi Haseeb,

Looking back on the original, I see now that I was presumptive in thinking you'd used a X3 Barlow. I noted that you'd described a Barlow as having been used but now see there was no "multiple" provided.

Was it a X3 ? (Just for my interest).

As to rotating the image, I just thought it looked a little better displayed in this way. (?)

In all events, congratulations, once more, on the fine cloud/storm detail you were able to capture, particularly under those skies I know you have to endure !

Best regards,
Tel

I used X2 now that I am imaging through the diagonal and which has made life a lot easier as far as focusing is concerned. Thank you once again and yes that rotated image indeed looks better.

Tel, that's probably the best "enhancement" of an image you've done in this thread.

Stunning work. It makes me want to get a better one for you next time.

And Haseeb, great work! Glad to see you're hitting your stride with the Nexstar setup. Alex (and others) have set a pretty solid bar, but I think the potential with this equipment is greater than most people give it credit for.

Yes, I know, GEM vs. Alt-Az....I get it.

Hi Tim,

Many thanks for your appreciation; it's very kind of you !

With the atrocious, but usual weather over here of late, messing about like this at least gives me some processing practice for when I can finally take some decent images for myself !

So saying, and I'm sure you don't mind, but I sat this morning practising on your own Jupiter and Io shot. I hope you like the result.

Incidentally..........

How do you guys get these Galilean satellites into your images ? It's something I've never really been able to do ?

Best regards,
Tel
