I don't think these scopes are available yet and are an unknown quantity, in contrast to the proven good quality of the astro-tech 130mm f/6 triplet or its equivalent from Telescope Service in Europe.

Hi Tony
Yes, i know this scope from Telescope Service, i take a look to it almost everyday, but i was hoping that Meade scope could be less expensive.

Hi Emauel, the Meade 6000 has similar specs to the Astro-Professional 130/910 triplet (probably the same scope) which is 2350 euros at TS. There's also the Meade 127 f/7.5 triplet for 1600 euros.

Here's an excerpt from a CN post by Marcus Ludes regarding the Astro-Professional 130 triplet:

"Astro-Professional Apo 130 F/7 DX , Triplet ED Apo

We have tested this apo and can confirm that the colorcorrection is visible better then the 120 and 127 mm apos w eknow from China , we can call them visual colorfree .
The centering is well held and the optical quality is diffraction limited."

Hi guys, thanks for the help.
Well, im gonna say something, probably awful, but i will say anyway: i really dont find the astro-professional scope very appealing! I believe that is very good, but to be honest, it doesnt convinces me!
Hummm, i dont know....i'll keep looking

Another suggestion I have is to buy from a reputable dealer who either routinely tests or will test for a fee the scope you want to buy. Most refractors sold today come from somewhere in China and the factory slaps a variety of brand names on the tube. I'd suggest either APM or TS are worth contacting though I'm sure there are many other good dealers in Europe who I'm not aware of. Good customer service is a critical factor with the Chinese scopes, whether they're branded Meade, Astro-Professional, Astro-Tech or anyone else.

Yeah, well, i know that the origin of most scopes is Chinese; i dont have anyhing against, but i think im gonna choose either APM or Takahashi.
We will see...

I am planning to upgrade my TS 90 f/6.6 (or add another scope to my collection of one). Can you elaborate on "not appealing"?
Based on what? Looks? Performance?

Well, it may seems bad for me to say this, but although the optical quality of a scope maybe excelent, the looks also has to be.
Can anyone look , for example, to a WO 98 Flt and say that is not gorgeous?
I had recently a maksutov from Intes, the mk66 deluxe, wich i sold, and although it had a very good performance, the look of it was somewhat awful.
Yes, i know that the most important is its optics, but hey, im like that...

According to the Meade web site the 80 mm is made using FPL53, and the 115 mm and 130 mm are made with FK61.

Why would they not all use the same type of glass?

http://www.harrisontelescopes.co.uk/acatalog/Meade_Series_6000_80mm_ED_Triplet_APO_Refractor.html

Emanuel Harrison Telescope in the UK have them on their website but no price or stock due date shown.
A Sky & Telescpe mag advert for the Meade 6000 130mm stated $2999 price so you can assume in the UK it will be 3000 ish or nearly double the US dollar price.
Like anything else in the UK astronomy retail market you will pay rip off prices.
The only refractors I would buy for really good performance and looks are the Skywatcher ED120 Evostar range, and the price's are not massively inflated like usual with UK astronomy retail prices etc.

I like Meade 6000 series 130mm f7 refractor and it look good to me! Longer in length and 4,000 dollars cheaper than TV 127!

If the Meade 6000 130mm F7 uses FK-61 (which is equivalent to FPL-51), wouldn't the ES127 APO (which uses FPL-51) be a better buy for #1300 less? They seem to have similar characteristics. Am I missing something?

Mike
