$130 for a supply I know isn't going to blow up my scope and cameras is cheap insurance!

Bob, please, not so quick. Please explain why we should use a big power hungry linear supply as opposed to a small high efficiency switch mode power supply. Can't be noise because the output filtering on the switchers recommended by Mary and myself is quite good and so is the input filtering on everything they're connected to these days (unless you're using a fifteen year old SBIG camera or something equally poorly designed in the input power department). I'm fairly certain you can explain, so please do. Thanks.

Modern switchers are not the old ones that blow up when looked at wrong.

Well it comes from some 40 years in radio, I have owned just about every 12v power supply commonly available and some not so commonly available. I have owned Samlex,Daiwa, MFJ, Universal, and on and on and every switcher I have ever owned had noise. now, that's not saying it's going to get into your newer camera, but why should I give up my ST-10 when I can power everything with a nice brick. And on cold nights it will keep your feet warm.

I recommend visiting an amateur radio supply dealer if you have one nearby. For example: http://houstonamateurradiosupply.com

...and I agree with Bob about the warm feet. I have a surplus Motorola supply under the desk.
Cheers
