Ron,

Very very nice work buddy! I have a friend who I am going to print this out for. Earlier this year we had a scope donated to school and he has been using it with his kids this summer. He's just learning his way around the night sky and this article will really help.

Thank you much for taking the time to write it Ron!

I agree that Ron did a great job on the article and a great service to many who will have copies of Ron's article with them out under the stars searching for these impressive objects. As all of us who have a telescope can recall, the first big challange is knowing what is up there and how to go about finding it. The more help there is to over come that first challange the more likely someone is to get hooked instead of frustrustated. I have met a lot of folks in our community that have a telescope in the closet because they lost interest or became frustrated before they first trained it on an object that caused them to exclaim "WOW". Perhaps Ron's effort will help save a few telescopes from the closet and help introduce more folks to the wonders available in the eyepiece of even a small scope when you know where to look.

Great article, but you left out one of my favorite summer showpieces - the Veil nebula! D!Oh!
Nice job with the charts and descriptions.

Thanks everyone for all of your very kind comments and compliments. I hope someone who has been reluctant to try DSOs will find it useful, fun, and hopefully be on his/her way to the larger part of our universe.
