Nice review, George. I have seen a couple of these VMC scopes come up in the classifieds and was intrigued. Good to know they perform well. Also good to know they are lighter and cool down quicker than a classic MCT.
I have been spending a good amount of time with my Orion 90mm MCT. It is really amazing what you can see in these smaller compound scopes. I have had the scope for a while, but I was using it on a light photo tripod (Bogen 3011). A few months ago, I found a Bogen 3036 tripod at a great price on eBay. The stability of the new tripod made a huge difference. Suddenly, the image was a lot more steady. This allowed me to really dial in collimation and really just enjoy the overall view as the mount just got out of the way.
There have been at least 4 or 5 occasions this fall where I tossed the 90mm Apex outside on questionable nights and was rewarded with "bonus" views of Jupiter and the moon.

Thanks for the review, George.
I have a question. When you use your binoviewers with this scope in the top (rather than the rear) position, do you need to use a Barlow or OCA to bring the view to focus?
Thanks, Bob

Really a great review, thank you! I'm a complete newb to this stuff am thinking one of these small Vixens might be just the ticket. I'd be interested to hear your preferences for the 95 over the 110 and possibly the 130, though I know the latter is a different beast.
Thanks much!

Thanks much for the review. I just bought one of these scopes and am waiting for it to arrive. I believe it is one of Vixens "Made in Japan" products so the quality should be superb. I live in Tokyo so the wait is a bit longer. I plan to use it with my iOptron Goto Mount and Smartstar A Tripod. Anyone have any advice?

The VMC110L is a great scope! The Ioptron Cube mount and tripod however will will never do justice to it. Waiting 10 seconds for the vibrations to stop from adjusting the focus will quickly destroy any joy you may get from the scope! I made up a small table top alt/az mount, and have been happy ever since! Cheers Chris
