Hi All,
Imaged Jupiter last night in the best seeing I have had for this apparition. I have rated as 6 to 7/10, actually bordering on good which certainly makes for a pleasant change.
Have posted a couple of RGB & 807nm IR data sets along with links to animations of all data from this session.
Note: the 807nm IR animation is 2.9 Mb and the RGB animation is 7.6 Mb. There are 5 IR images in the IR animation and 4 RGB's in the RGB animation.
There are some well defined small white ovals toward the Sth Polar region, some really nice structure in the wake of the GRS, the barges in the NEB are very crisp and oval BA is quite faded.

Thanks Freddy, nice to resolve some reasonable detail for a change and to get enough data for some animations. Just had a look at tonights forecast for the summit of Mauna Kea, -2.5 C with fog and ice, actually thought it would be colder than that this time of the year. When I was at the Keck's back in late Sept 2008 it was about 0 C late in the afternoon and our operator at the summit that night was reporting flurries of snow.
Thanks very much Geoff, still not a patch on what has been produced in the Northern Hemisphere this apparition, I suppose it is a measure of just how crook it has been over the last 6 months that even reasonable conditions start to look good.

Hi Trevor & sorry for the late reply. I'm in Sydney now, hence my having to catch up on a few posts.
Nice image - pity about the darned seeing! My apparition is now over (I think) but glad all the same with the 1/2 dozen reasonable captures I managed. I bagged a few more than last season in any case. Hope you get at least one really good night SOON mate.

Trevor,
That is one beautiful color shot of Jupiter with wonderful belt color and detail around the GRS. Somehow for me it strikes a very nice balance of color and detail with great resemblance to the visual appearance of Jupiter.
Congrats and thanks.

Thanks Asi,checking the satellite images on WZ over the last few weeks, there seems to have been more or less constant thunder storm activity up your way. Still, you have produced some very nice images thus far for this apparition of Jupiter. I live in hope that conditions will turn around out here for Saturn.
Thanks very much Erik for you most generous remarks, I am relatively pleased with the result but as I have previously mentioned, the bar for the level of seeing I have had this apparition has not been set very high.
Thanks Rob, I can very much relate to being distracted, it seems to be happening to me with ever increasing frequency, my general excuse is that I am having over 60's moments.

Yes Trevor, plenty of storms up in the Bundaberg area right now. I only got caught out once with rain this apparition (wet corrector).

Very nice work, Trevor! We must be getting to the point where Jupiter is transiting near sunset for you?

Very nice RGB Trevor, glad you finally got a bit of seeing your way. Jupiter was good this year, but we lost Saturn most of the last apparition due to poor seeing conditions in our region...I hope it is better this time around. Here's hoping you get more good weather!

Very good work Trevor, for that altitude and those conditions these results are very good.
Look forward to your usual stunning Saturn imagery soon, it will be better placed for you guys downunder for quite some time!

Thanks very much Frank.
Asi, hope no water got into your tube, often wondered how people dealt with closed tube assemblies in the tropics with the high relative humidity of the summer.
Thanks very much Steve.
Thanks very much Wayne, yes, Jupiter is transiting now within an hour of Sunset for my location. I can now start my imaging sessions with my scope on the opposite side of the polar axis to that which has been the case thus far this apparition.
Thanks very much Brian, it was nice to be able to resolve some finer detail for a change this apparition but for sure, I have been spoilt over the last several years with good seeing for Jupiter at high alt's. I think a fair exchange, Jupiter heading Nth to give you guys a reasonable crack at it while Saturn heads Sth for us. The quality of images being produced from the Nth Hemisphere has been a joy to follow.
Thanks very much Glenn, Saturn reached an alt of 68 degrees for me this apparition and continues to rise higher each year through to 2016 when it peaks at 77 degrees.
