Celestron Skymasters Gone from Scope City new
      #5010875 - 01/10/12 03:14 PM

About two weeks ago as I was replying to an inquiry in this forum about the Celestron Skymaster 20x80, I wanted to know the price at Scope City. No Celestron binoculars there anymore. Scope City carried Celestron binoculars for a long time.

Not even a "Celestron Binoculars Clearance Sale" to get all excited about.
What is this world coming to?

Stan

I just purchased a pair of Clestron 20x80 skymasters from Hands On Optics. Very well made and well corrected!

Is Hands On Optics a company that started in Montana or Wyoming?

Not sure about way out West origins, but I recall Hands On Optics (Gary Hands) ad running many years in S&T, for his current Damascus, Maryland store.

Because I do not live in the US I do not know what the significance of Scope City is to you folks, but I agree the great names and department stores that we are dedicated to for ages are on the shrink and decline all over the world. Now that you mention this particular pair let me tell you my story: I bought my pair of SkyMasters 20x80s from Amazon.com, Amazon warehouse deals to be precise, factory refurbished for a bargain $84, had it shipped to my sister's in GA and she forwarded it on to me in the Sahara just before Christmas. I expected a cheap pair of Chinese glasses, up to the time I started unpacakging the HUGE retail carton box it ships in, but to my utter surprise this turned out to be a truly superb pair, lovely light gathering and great collimation, good contrast and good resolving. The spindle-mounted tripod adapter is very conveninet to use. This is truly what I call "exceeds expectations." I am still very pleasantly surprised. By the way, any link for Scope City if they do online business?

Thanks a million Hallelujah, quite an impressive setup. Not so many that fancy places across the strech of salt water called the Atlantic.

Todd if you're interested the skymasters are currently $469 on Australia eBay , which I think is good value when you compare tht to $709 for the 8x56's. If you want quality you have to pay for it

Hi Daniel:
given the prices, if I want to sell my Brooklyn bridge, I probably should put it On Australia Ebay then ...

That's not fair! Why should only Australia have the quality version?
