To good to be true? Please Help / bino purchase.

From time to time;on "flea bay", I have notice some deals that seem to good to be true. Should I be wary of Nikon Action Extremes 10x50 for $99 +$10 shipping? They say they are new.
Another deal: I once saw a pair of Garrett Signatures 10X50 with tripod, for $99 plus shipping.

If they are new, how can this be?

Are they knocking off some of these binoculars and selling a sub-quality bino with the name of a higher quality?

I paid $130 for my Nikon AE 10x50's a couple of years ago from a reputable vendor so I can see how a pair of these could go for this price.

Would you buy the nikon action extreme 10x50 again if you had it to do over? Do you feel there is a better choice?

And the Garrett Signature 10x50 with tripod, should sell for $350. Do you think $99 plus shipping $15 sounds fishy....they say they are new.

I can possibly see the AE10x50 selling for $99. but the description of that item describes a Monarch ATB, not the Action Extreme. I wouldn't trust that without confirmation. The $139. price from other Ebay vendors is more like it. Be careful.

A new Signature 10x50 and tripod for $99. is VERY suspicious, IMO. I think your term "too good to be true" applies here.

There are well regarded vendors that try hard to sell binoculars at a fair price. The products are as specified and their return policies are liberal. Personally, I'd stick with them rather than take my chances with an unknown vendor, but that's just me.

Just remember that WYSIWYG. Don't always hold true on the 'bay

Skynard, I would buy the Nikon's again for the price. The Garrett's are better but much heavier and I don't think the price increase is worth it compared to the Nikon's. Good binos, yes, but not worth twice the price.

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Nikon AE 8x40mm for 99 UK pounds/150 USD from what I regard as a reliable dealer: microglobe.co.uk. They seem to have the lowest prices in Europe (have checked so many binoculars onine webshops the last couple of weeks)and they sell the AE 10x50 mm for 125 UK pounds, aprox. 190 USD. And Microglobe is really lowpriced at most of their binoculars. I know binoculars in generel are cheaper in the US, but still - unless your retailer is having a big sell out or somekind of a campaign, you should be careful.
