This Windsor binocular has all the traits of a MIOJ look about it. Is it coated?

It says "coated optics". They do get a bit rough at about 10% from the edge. (worse in the left side than the right, for some reason) But the 10 degree field is pretty sharp and they dont weigh much. Whats MIOJ? Made in occupied Japan? I can post more pics tonight if you need them. They came in a leather lined case with red felt inside, its in rough shape.

Hi, yes Made in occupied Japan, have that look about them.
Not a lot else unless they have any markings stamped into the hinge of between the objective lenses?

Goerz 9x20 Army - 1906 new [Re: Simon S]
      #5315528 - 07/13/12 07:49 AM Attachment (47 downloads)

Hello Friends! I apologize if I do I feel little but er aun little time since I bought a special pair of binoculars!
Yesterday I came from GB a Goerz 9x20 Army (sn 96588) in good condition and with original case.
This type of binocular was produced by Goerz, for export to GB early XX century, binoculars and new features military strength. I have seen that the expert Thomas Mix has had two or three in his hands. Either version of IF that CF (9x20 and 6x20).
The bino has reached me is just dusty, but has no scratches and cracks in the prisms and lenses.
In an advertisement of "Stereoscopic Company" of 1906 ... it was written that these binoculars had "Prims and lenses can be cleaned by the users" ...
For now, I have dusted and cleaned the binoculars outside but soon I will open it to access the inside, to see if these binoculars, it was built very differently from other Goerz.
I send you some pictures apepna arrived ...
bye

Thanks !!
I've started today being studied to understand the points of removing ... the situation is less simple than I thought ...For now I have opened the front area and started the disassembly of eyepieces. Now I reflect a bit and step over the next few days to step 2.Unfortunately I've got tendinitis in right arm because of opening one Steiner BW fero D12 , two weeks ago ... and I can not help efforts to undo or unblock a binocular.

bye Marco

Latest binocular new [Re: Bensi]
      #5317130 - 07/14/12 09:21 AM Attachment (29 downloads)

Just got hold of a Zeiss 7.5x24 Jagdglas with a s/n dating it to 1895. Now I need to do a bit of gentle restoration.

Does anyone know where I can get eyecups to fit. I was hoping the would be the same as a Feldstecher but they are a totally different size.

Nicolas Crista can make them but he would need to know the thread size. He did a great job making eyecups for my Leitz Elcan. http://nrcoptics.com/

Does the binocular have eccentric rings or does it collimate only by prism adjustment?

Yes ..second solution.. collimate only by prism adjustment ..but very easy!

You have to unscrew the screws of the bracket, block, the prism and the prism slides in its groove. You get the collimation quickly.

I just finished cleaning the prisms and lenses collimated tube right ... but I will complete the work another day ....

bye

The Patented by Goerz binoculars Army for export, was very, very special. As the ads say the time, he was easy to open and clean and collimate, even for a non-expert, but damned did, workers to lathes .... the Officine Goerz of Berlin. In fact, shortly after the system was put aside and used binoculars to mod 1908.
