Take a look down in the Meade ETX forum, a number of LS scope posts there.

It sure is kind of late to be asking since you already ordered the scope..
Anyway... If you purchased a new one it should be fine...
Meade had a ton of problems when they introduced these scopes a few years ago... BUT Meade seems to have FINALLY got rid of most of the bugs..
You should be fine...

I've had the LS-8 for almost a year and I've posted a lot of notes and tips if you want to look them up.
Enjoy it!

I've had the 6" since it was introduced. I love it, and with the latest Firmware update the goto's are dead on. It is a well built scope and I was even able to do some decent AP with it without it being an EQ mounted scope.
Edit: I pulled the LS6 out tonight since there were too many high clouds around to image and I needed to collimate it anyway. Flipped the switch, 7 minutes later it was aligned and ready to go. Got it collimated and had some great views of Jupiter, the Moon, M42 and Venus before more clouds rolled in.

thanks to everyone for the welcome and info. i have heard good and bad about the LS. its been out a couple years and i figured the bugs have been worked out. i ordered a factory refurbished model and saved $500. its to arive on friday and i will post how it goes, i had a celestron 8" with an eg mount and just figured this would be a lot simpler to use. thanks - Jim

Welcome to Cloudy Nights and good luck with your new scope. You will get a kick out of it when you flip the switch and it stars doing it's dance! It will even talk to you while it's doing it for your amusement...
There is a very nice user test report on it in the CN review section by John Kramer. You can read up on that while your waiting delivery. Oh, and BTW there is even a Facebook page on this scope!
Enjoy and let us know how your first light went.

I been using the LS-6SC for about 4 month and think its an excellent product. The go-to works great. Meade optics are excellent. Aftera couple of uses it needed to be collimated properly. On the negative side, the SCT tread to 1.25" adapter would not thread correctly. I tried it on a couple of SCT and the tread was bad. I recommend immediately replacing the diagnol with a sturdy 2" version if the SCT thread seems difficult to snug tightly. Battery life was good. The Autostar III was pretty well laid out. Tracking was excellent. The tripod is very lightweight and moves a lot in windy weather. Much better on calm evening. I keep the scope mounted at all time and it takes me 5 minutes to be up and observing on my deck. The leveling, GPS and north finder work well also.
ENJOY the scope !!!
