Mach1GTO for C11? new
      #5065705 - 02/10/12 03:28 PM

Hi I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this: would a Mach1GTO be good enough to mount a C11 with equipment for AP work? I think the rated weight limit of the mount more than exceeds the C11's weight but I would be grateful for any real life experience. Thank you.

The rated weight for the AP Mach One GTO is 45 lbs for imaging. I asked AP this question because I am looking for a traveling mount for my C11 and plan to image with it, the AP folks told me the C11 (at 27 lbs for the OTA, 35 w/ imaging gear) would be no problem. The "1/2 the capacity of the mount" rule really does not apply to AP or other high end mounts. Hope this helps!

Clear Skies,
Brian

I believe ATRC10 is heavier than C11. Take a look at this setup with ATRC10 mounted on Mach1. Look for Jared. He takes fantastic images with this setup without issues.

I have a C11 and a Mach 1 you will not have a problem. The Mach 1 uses the same motors as APs 900 and 1200 mounts.

For superior rigidity, you should consider the Losmandy G11 tripod, A Rob Miller tripod, or the Astro-Physics Eagle Tripod.

yeah.. i have the 25lb rated AP600 and AP told me its good for a C9.25 (22lb) for imaging. so i can't imagine the 45lb Mach1 would have any problems with the 27lb C11.
