The little brown truck is out for delivery.
      #5109834 - 03/07/12 01:13 PM

It's been a long time since I've bought anything astronomy related. I've almost forgot the kid at Christmas time euphoria you get watching the UPS or Fedex tracking as your purchase gets closer and closer.

Today the UPS tracking site read out for delivery

The sad thing it's only a Baader Moon and Skyglow filter, but it never seems to matter. Being I'm a little short on cash I might need to just ship stuff to myself in the future just for the excitement. Please tell me I'm not alone here.

Tom, you're not alone! It's always exciting, waiting for a new/used goody to arrive! Amazing how much slower the time goes, waiting for that truck.

Let us know how you like your new filter!

Thanks Carol.

I'll offer some feedback once I have the chance to run it through several sessions. I notice my first impression doesn't always match my long term impression.

I love the little brown truck. I can't wait for it to bring my 16" mirror back home after a re-coat. It's almost galaxy season and this year I'm gonna be loaded for bear!

One of my long-ago astronomy friends (now a Latin professor) once said that the best way to live life was to always have something good coming one's way, quid bona perveniendi, either in the mail or via UPS... he did return a lot of things, 'tis true, but in the time I knew him I don't believe a week went by that he didn't find a package on his doorstep.

I seem to recall him purchasing 3 Unitron refractors over the course of a year in the early 1980's, culminating in the full-on 4" equatorial model... all new.

Good times.

I bought my whole setup, these last 2.5 years, lots of money and deliveries.... I know the feeling.
This filter has been a good one for me with the moon, I hope you'll like it.

I believe one should always pursue those things that bring one joy in life--even if it is something as simple as a couple of eyepiece filters.

I have the same thing going on. Except it is a white truck. Coming from new York. To Washington. Long trip should be 5days. At least it is always cloudy here so i can't be blamed for the weather.

Tell me about it. I ship from the USA to my home country. Its exciting watching the yellow planes indicate which city, processing facility or country its in as it wings its way to me.
Always exciting.

Tom,
What a rush . . . to come home and see a package on the doorstep. Doesn't make any difference what's in it . . . it's there! along with all those clouds that seem to arrive at precisely at the same moment the Brown Truck leaves that package!

Regards and good viewing,
Bob

Hey Tom! I remember conversing with you on this board last year... Like you, I just caught the bug again. I too haven't bought anything astronomy related in quite some time, but the good news is the weather has warmed up, and I have all of my gear ready to go.

I went to an outreach this past Saturday, and it was the most fun I have had with this hobby in a long time.

Clear skies!

Yea, like my wife would ever believe that one! "What do you mean you already owned that stuff and just shipped it again for fun? Really how much was it?"

I tracked my DHL package for a month saying that the next step would be to arrive in destination country... The post office failed to flag it as having arrived in country and after 1 month of not collecting the package it flew all the way back to Germany. Now Gerd Nueman is sending me my EL Flat pannel again this time with the phone number so that the post office can not claim they had no way to contact me.

So, my package has flown from Germany to the middle east and back again and now it is flying towards me one more time.... imagine how restless I am getting!

That's downright sad; hopefully it will arrive soon. It certainly will be "well-traveled".

That would put me on the edgy side as well. Let's hope that package gets there soon.
