Friends don't let their friends undermount fine refractors.

I notice that you have some modded bits on the mount, the red anodised bit and what looks like a new conrtrol panel.
Interested in what these are.
many thanks
John

Perhaps it's been so long that they don't remember what sex was like or maybe they just can't remember at all. I on the other hand...What were we talking about???

Yes, the control planel is a replacement part. The original was burned and there wasn't white ones. SkyWatcher sent me a black one.

The red "thing" is a mod I made with other spanish amateurs to increase the load capacity of the mount, better worm gear adjustement and improved guiding. Ballbearing change and new grease, helps too. Example of guiding at 420mm focal lenght:

Okay, here's a picture of my humble "little" offering; just a simple achromat on a GEM go-to. Taken from my cell phone so not the best.

Not a light bucket, but fits quite well in the back seat of my work truck with the included case. Using the ST80 on the Nexstar SLT mount. Very nice together. (Performance not Looks )

Beautiful Hal130 tripod and half pier! I love the stability on these.

I haven't had this scope out for almost the whole year; been trying to build a proper Alt-Az mount for it, but today I thot I'd clobber up the mounts I have on hand for a quick "grab and go in the evening"

We are having a nice small stretch of below freezing, clear, stable skies. (For the first time in I-don't-know-when.) The TEC200 was catching some rays today. Temps are very flat. I've never seen the focus drift so little between exposures. I focus every 40 mins (every 4 exposures).

I check the lens every few sessions to make sure it's staying lifeform free. I think Alaska has it easy in this regard. I have never seen fungus on anything even during weeks of rain. I do ..always.. keep the dew heater running.

Mike,

Do I see an Eskimo Nebula deep inside your OTA?

I just got hypnotized by that huge amount of unobstructed high-end glass free floating in the Arctic circle
