Hello John,

Yes, I did bring it to Stellafane in 1989. It was a wonderful experience.

I've had such good luck with that scope/observatory that I'm trying to build a new improved version. The old bod is wearing out which makes it difficult to do this.

Thanks for your interest/complement.

billybird (aka Bill)

Billybird, that's a highly impressive setup there! Would be so nice to sit comfortably while its freezing outside. Nicely done!

I had 3 pictures to share about my refractor and for some reason it would only suck up one shot. I will try sending them separately.

Billybird, I remember seeing your observatory in Sky and Tel or Astronomy magazine years ago. Sorry can't remember which one.
It's a brilliant design. Congratulations on still having it in operation. Please post some more pictures of it if you can. [maybe without the snow ] so we can all see it in more detail.
Truly amazing.

Steve

That obs is amazing? I would love to build something like that. Do you have a drawing that shows how the optics works on that?

Hi Bill. That is an amazing piece of work there. I too use a 1500 watt heater in my rolloff observatory. Up or down wind hell I don't care it doesn't bother me either. I think it is because by the time that heater's air reaches 16' it's already ambient. I sure enjoyed that phone chat we had that afternon you called me. I too have that same Jaegers tank erfle on my 6" F/8. Here's a pic. I haven't a clue whether or not you've seen my setup. Take care. Mike

Matt, an incredibly handsome instrument and mount. Must be worth an extra magnitude or two just to sit behind the business end!!

Very cool. I get the optical chain, lens/mirror/eyepiece. How about some details on the mechanics? Do you have a background in artillery? That's some remote slewing setup you have there.

Regards,

Astrotelescopes AT102F11

Today is gray and dreary so I decided to get out the backdrop and lights. I finally got most of the pieces together. Here's a few photos:

It's the recent AT102F11 with R&P focuser. It's on a Celestron ASGT mount upgraded with ADM saddle and "William Optics" style dovetail bar. The Stellarview finder is mounted via a strut.
