Anyone have information on sky conditions in eastern washington considering the wildfires?
Heading out tomorrow for Camp Delany Star Party near Sun Lakes/Coulee City.
Thanks, Myles

There was a picture in the paper the other day of Jim Wickwire on the top of Slate(article was in reference to expanding the National Park).
Looks a little chilly!

Ram, I'll be at Meadows campground at Harts Pass and you'd be welcome to join . . . . but that's a *really* long drive from Seattle.

I can't do Friday night. I'll be lucky to get Saturday. They want to keep working me crazy hours even though my area is getting slow now. The rest of the shop is busy and they want me to work in other areas. I was happy about it when i thought it was just 50hours but, now they are talking Saturdays too. We'll see though. It may be the last clear new moon for a while and i don't want to waste it.
Speaking of the moon, did anyone see it this morning? It was a tiny sliver and really red/orange. It was one of the best moon views i have seen. I have never seen it quite that red.

Sean, I saw the moon later than you, around 6:15. By then it was considerably higher in the sky and didn't look red at all. I could see what looked like a lot of smoke lower on the eastern horizon, though. The moon was a lovely, thin crescent. Yesterday morning it appeared close to Venus -- quite a sight!

I got a snapshot of it at 5:40am, as part of my Daily Moon series (i've got 16 of the 28+ days now). I think this is somewhat close to true color as i was seeing it from my place.
Though my main reason to be out was to catch Io coming out from behind Jupiter.

About 430-5am it was quite a bit redder. Great shot though. I was really hoping someone else saw it and you got an image. Very cool.

I'd love to get out. What with all the smoke and on-going projects I'll be staying home.
This new RV is taking longer than I thought. Got the new sofa in and it looks awesome but had to do surgery to fit it correctly. Got the new 32" flat screen installed where the old 25" CRT was. The new blue-ray player sits nicely in the extra space. That will all be wired to the new mp3/stereo I'll be putting in this weekend. Got the new vanity sink and faucet in and the shower/tub re-calked and and re-worked. 45 feet of 5" fake wood trim has all been removed to be replaced with real wood that I am re-finishing this weekend. All the light fixtures and cabinet hardware have been replaced. Honey bunny has re-covered the ottomans and they look awesome. She's re-upholstering the dinette (and window treatments to match) now and that will be a huge improvement. Still have to bite the bullet on 4 new house batteries at $100 each and get those installed! The new Nespresso machine and pods should be here by Monday. That will make espresso on the road much easier! Then it's off to the flooring store for new carpet and vinyl. NOT looking forward to that, but hopefully a little easier than the last one.
Anyway, hope you all get some viewing in and get a chance to relax a little

@Mike, Not sure I want to drive so much and then freeze all night at Harts pass. I'll probably go to Roslyn or somewhere near there.

Stacy, your account sounds like home remodeling, not an RV.

I'm drooling over the thought of a CPC1100 + MallinCam displaying itself on that 32" flat screen.
I'm over at Port Townsend now for an extended weekend, myself. I really should be up at Hurricane Ridge tonight with my scope, but i just couldn't bring myself to drive all the way up there (2 hours + mountain road) in the dark, plus set up in a strange new place in the dark, probably all alone, with imaginary bears watching me from all sides. Hopefully we'll get another clear night before Monday.
