Sounds like a good trip I missed. I was pretending it was summer with my family at great wolf lodge. It was fun but, not as good as a star party; even a small star party. :-)

I am glad you guys got out. Maybe next time I can make it.

One of the reasons I enjoy astronomy is simply that I love the night. Friday night, at Umtanum Creek, we listened to owls hooting at each other. Last night I pulled out my bird i.d. program, which has recordings of different calls of most bird species, and listened to all the owls*. I can now confidently identify the ones we listened to Friday as great horned owls. Cool!

* Actually, it had no snowy owl recordings, but they're extremely rare in Washington.

I would have enjoyed the owls.

Very cool! I really enjoy hearing owls, but sorry to say I've only seen one very large one that got spooked as I drove by & he flew ahead of me, startling the heck out of me!

We used to get Owls around the house here almost every winter, but the 100 acres east of us just got cleared last summer/fall so they migh not show anymore.

SORRY Everyone, the weather is not going to get any better for a while now...I just took on another "project camera". It's another Quantix but this one is a small sensor(1317 X 1035) . It was cheap!! Technically I could say that I was just buying it for the power supply and PCI card as emergency back-ups for the KAF6303E since the connections, pinout, and voltages are the same and it still needs a shutter

That happened to Anne & me on our honeymoon! Without seat belts one of us might have gone through the car roof.

Any way you gadgeteers could coordinate so you all buy your stuff on the same day, instead of sprinkling and spraying it all over the dang calendar?

If the deal I am negotiating comes through, I might be the owner of a new scope!

This will be my first "mainly visual" scope.
Very excited!

Ram, you've restored my faith! I was shaken to the core when your fellow imager, Andy, told me he doesn't own an eyepiece.

Actually he does own several eyepieces.
They just happen to be cooled and have CCD chips in them.

Gotta lay low....

2 PM's today from different mods. Guess I'm stirring up trouble for folks. Not really my intent.

So... anybody asks... I wasn't here.

Well, I guess I am innocent of blame for any bad weather. My deal for the 14" ultralight Dob fell through as the seller decided to send it back to the manufacturer.

Well it looks like tonight might be good - but of coarse I have a gig. Won't even be home til about 2:30 am. This has been a tough winter! I've yet to be at any dark site to see the winter Milky Way. I'm sure the weather will clear up nice for the coming full moon.....;-)

Hmmm... Wow nice weather!

Looking forward to a quiet evening... Then My step son calls. Want's to know if they could spend the night as we are close to Stevens Pass and he has National Guard biathlon training up there this weekend. And bring his wife, and the two grand-kids (1&2yo) And his buddy (nice kid also in the NG), and his buddy's wife and kid.

Ah well, the more the merrier

I might sneak out with the binos.
