Way cool! Finally we have proof it actually exists...
I'm going to try to get out to the local west-facing hill with my Canon 60d and 400mm f5.6, if we ever get an evening westward clearing sometime soon.

Great job Doug. At least one of us weather beaten Western Washingtoners saw Pan-STARRs.
Thanks for sharing the Aurora pictures, Robert. I think the Heart Nebula reminds me of pork chops, though I've been a vegetarian now for more than a decade.

Hey guys, long time no see. Ive had my telescope up at my parents new place about 10 miles north of Spokane. Tonight finally cleared up a bit so I decided to head out there. Havent even seen the telescope in about 7 months. Got it out, dusted it off, windexed the mirror and got a good look at Panstars. Pretty amazing to see it. I had been waiting for 10+ days to get a chance to see it. Hope all is well with y'all!!
P.S. Was kidding about the windex.

Doug,
nice shot of the comet!
I am surprised that we have a couple windows of viewing - I had viewed it Saturday naked eye and with binoculars. Tonight another chance and I added in my 80mm refractor.
Thanks again for the pics.

No comet for me tonight, but i did get first light on my brand new Mallincam + 7" LCD. Hooked it up to my Canon 70-300mm lens and pointed it out the window up at the Orion Nebula for a few minutes. Not too bad considering the crazy light pollution and low magnification. The light pollution here is so bad that i couldn't go over 1/2 second integration.

I got lucky and saw Pannstars tonight from just up the road at McGarvey Park. It's bright. It was naked eye once I knew where to look.
All I brought with me were the Regals and Obies. It was amazing thru the Obies. Very bright stellar core and an impressive tail. If I get another chance I'll bring a scope and camera next time.
There were 4 other people there with me tonight, a middle aged couple and a father with his grown daughter. I guess my spot isn't a secret anymore.

Hi, guys. I took a crack at it without success. Although it was crystalline overhead it was increasingly hazy from about 30* down to the western horizon. It was nice to get out, though

Yep, about 100 yards south of the Badger Mountain road, right after you crest the Plateau. I've got 5 acres on Ruud Canyon road about 1/2 mile east of the point you head down the hill to Waterville. there is still snow up on top.

Dang, I'd love to see it; but the hill behind my observatory to the West blocks the horizon.

If my aching knee was better, I could hike to the top of the one by the house, & get a good view, but it's a steep climb; and would be coming back down after dark.
How about that sky?

I am moving to Montana. I just thought of a place in marysville where i would have a decent chance to see the comet. I may get arrested for hanging out waiting for the comet but, it is worth a shot. I'll look around today to see if I can find a place that is public property on the hill.

That's just not fair. Even in our few clear days, we've never had a sky so blue as that. Must be that we're at sea level here.

And that photo was completely untouched. I'm around 4,000'.
