Ive had my telescope up at my parents new place about 10 miles north of Spokane. Tonight finally cleared up a bit so I decided to head out there. Havent even seen the telescope in about 7 months. Got it out, dusted it off, windexed the mirror and got a good look at Panstars. Pretty amazing to see it. I had been waiting for 10+ days to get a chance to see it. Hope all is well with y'all!! P.S. I am surprised that we have a couple windows of viewing - I had viewed it Saturday naked eye and with binoculars. Tonight another chance and I added in my 80mm refractor. Hooked it up to my Canon 70-300mm lens and pointed it out the window up at the Orion Nebula for a few minutes. Not too bad considering the crazy light pollution and low magnification. The light pollution here is so bad that i couldn't go over 1/2 second integration. It's bright. It was naked eye once I knew where to look. All I brought with me were the Regals and Obies. It was amazing thru the Obies. Very bright stellar core and an impressive tail. If I get another chance I'll bring a scope and camera next time. There were 4 other people there with me tonight, a middle aged couple and a father with his grown daughter. I guess my spot isn't a secret anymore. That's my old stomping ground. Yep, about 100 yards south of the Badger Mountain road, right after you crest the Plateau. I've got 5 acres on Ruud Canyon road about 1/2 mile east of the point you head down the hill to Waterville. there is still snow up on top. I just thought of a place in marysville where i would have a decent chance to see the comet. I may get arrested for hanging out waiting for the comet but, it is worth a shot.
