How far away were you from the goats Robert?

I like how they shed from the top down.

Rob update:

I might be moving to Texas...I have an interview coming up for a nice paying job with the VA in Big Spring.

I'm posting here cuz I want to let all my NW astro friends know I will be selling/giving away many if not all of my mirror making equipement. The Large draper machine...the 4 table US Navy machine and the Porter machine.....the blank cutting machines and the rest of my 1/2" float glass stock....along with tooling and some pyrex blanks. Pretty much all my stuff. I will be selling several of the scopes too(NOT the green 6"f/15, or large binos) For the real harty folks...even the big green refractor and its mount...if I can....Real affordable prices too.

So if you or any of your friends want to get some stuff let me know. Stuff is for sale(for cheep) NOW!

Good luck and clear skies.

Rob

Rob,

Well I hope it's a good job if you get it. You'll be near some more southerly dark skies there. We'll miss you here, we've been missing you already since you've been into boat models lately.

Brad

Who's going to OSP? I'm planning to be there in my older white RAV4.

Who else is going and how would you be found? I tried to find someone there last year and never did.

Brad

Sorry Mike ! I didn't see this post...

I'd say that quite a few were within 35 feet. That picture; I was just standing on the edge of the gravel road, and they were just over the edge of the road. It was pretty much right there!

Rob, good luck on the interview. I hope you get the job! We'll sure miss you here, though. Would you sell your property or rent it out or something else? I spent the summer of 1970 at Ft. Sam Houston, outside San Antonio, in a non-air conditioned barracks. Yucko pucko.

Brad, I'm going to have to miss OSP this year, but I'll try again next. The skies are unmatched.

Wow, Robert, that must have been a thrill. Did you know they were there before you walked over with your camera in your hand, or was it just good luck all the way around?

90deg is not that hot when there is no humidity.
The Texas star party is only a couple of hours away too...with the best skies around.
I don't want to rent cuz that means I have to get a managing company to manage the property. Selling it is probably our best bet...279K on near 7 acres, to include an OB......know anybody?

Rob,

Good luck with the job. I always intended to get over to visit, but never made it. My loss. But I have followed your forum posts for years, so I know you have gone through some trying times. Things now looking up!

Best wishes

There was one out in the road when I was coming down. It stood for a while then went over the side. I got out thinking I'd get a picture of the one... looked over the side and was pretty much in shock

My wife and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary in St.Thomas VI. I have missed every SP this year and it looks like I'll miss this one too. Anyway, I hope you guys have a great time.

A couple of nights ago we were surrounded by thunderstorms and I took a bunch of pictures of some pretty cool sky. I'll see how they turn out & probably post a couple.

Well, here's one . . . let's hope the resizing worked.

I'll probably just bring my binos. It should be great. We were dirt poor and I was working 2 jobs combined for 7 days a week when we got married. We couldn't have a honeymoon. This is also our first trip without the kids. We are pretty excited.

That photo is pretty bad. I haven't done this in a while. Any tips? It's a JPEG, original 2160 X 864 pixels. I attempted to use the stock MS Photomanager.

Hmmmm, probably not to Table again this year.

Cool, Sean, I can see why you're excited. Lift a cold one, with a little umbrella, for me.
