Mike, We hope Pixie is feeling better. She is a sweet, sweet girl. We will have a special treat for her next time we see her.

Asher sends his love as well. (Can't blame him for trying)

I kept waiting for the weather reports to improve before heading down to OSP but they just kept getting worse. So I ended up not going at all.

If there is enough interest in Pixieland in Sept I may just try to organize something.

Glad to hear Pixie's on the mend.

Brad

Pixie thanks you for your warm thoughts. We just hope it wasn't cancerous. There's grounds for optimism.

If someone were to organize a P/land trip I'd be very tempted to go. Not that I wasn't thinking about it already. As long as Kerry doesn't attract lightning, that is.

Speaking of Pixieland's namesake, she had major surgery last Thursday and is doing well. They removed her spleen, and the tumor attached to it was described to me by the vet as, "Half the size of a person's head." She now has more of a greyhound shape and less like that of a sausage. She's past the pain from the surgery and is feeling pretty good. She's breathing much better.

Ohhhhhhhh! Poor Pixie. She's such a sweet dog. Give her a big hug and a butt scratch for the Pegster.

Hey Mike,

Great report on Hurricane Ridge. You saw all that with binos? Maybe I got to get me some of them...

Wish I could make it down there in Sept to Pixie Land, but I am heading to California on the 1st.

Glad Pixie is on the mend!

Doug

Pixie thanks you for the good wishes, Doug.

The binoc night was kind of a breakthrough for me. I now "get it." I couldn't possibly have had more fun with Sugaree than I did hunting for the faint fuzzies with the binocs -- and in recliner comfort, too! I enjoyed the thrill of the successful hunt, coupled with the unique perspective of the wide-view aesthetics. I'd do that any time.

Saturday night SweetAnne & I went to a concert at the Little Creek Casino (near
Shelton) and heard Los Lonely Boys & Los Lobos. It was superb in all respects and it included a truly thrilling surprise.

One of the mikes picked up some on-stage, between-numbers banter, and I heard someone say, "Send up Lee Oskar." And about a minute later, they introduced him. He's the guy whose name is on all my harmonicas, a genuine world-class harp player. He ended up sitting in with Los Lobos for close to 1 1/2 hour. Wow!

Pixie has been going to work with me again this week. Anne & I are just thrilled with her recovery. No lie, now that she's past the surgical recovery she acts about two years younger.

I'm going out in a few to see if I can spot the nova in Delphinus.

Later: No go on nova. A haze came in, illuminated by full moon. But a pleasant 45 min., none the less.

Yeah! And I saw a Vega in Tacoma!

Well, if anyone wants to continue this car-spotting thread, still available are: Pulsar, Titan, Aerostar, Aries, Astro, del Sol, Eclipse, Taurus, Electra, Equinox, Mercury, Saturn, Pulsar and Starion (contraction of Star of Orion). You have to pick your own city as I am notgoing to list them all!

Thanks for the help, Jackie. You just saved me a lot of tough investigative work!

Mike, I only named some of the obvious ones. There's still lots of room for you to conduct "a lot of tough investigative work!" For example, I missed the Jowett Jupiter produced from 1949-1954 and maybe you could report seeing one in a vintage car parade in Port Townsend!

[And every time you look at the Suburu logo, you are looking at the Pleides, which they call Suburu in Japan]

We used to have our own Comet. I think we actually had two. One we rode around in, the other one we used to vacuum the floors with. Of course we had a small can of them under the sink to clean all manner of stuff.
