Welcome to the Ohio Never Ending Fun thread. You'll find that most (not all but the majority) of the Ohio-based participants in the thread are generally located in and around Cleveland, or at least within an hour or two. I do believe one is in Parma, in fact, but I'll let that person speak for themselves. Then there are those of us honorary or former Ohioans that hang out too. The more the merrier on this here bus! Di's surgery went well. The tear was worse that the doc had suspected....Nearly 90%. He said it closed up nice and the bone spurs are cleaned up. She's kicking back now watching some telly. The pain blocker is still working so hopefully the pain killers do the trick when that wears off. Thanks for checking in folks. We couldn't ask for better friends. I did cortisone shots and the exercises recommended by my orthopedic doctor. The shots helped for a little while, but the exercises seemed to have no effect. Two years ago we were carrying cured/dried logs thru knee deep snow from the back to the house to cut up for firewood. I was stepping in Scott's footprints to make it easier and carrying one log at a time with both hands. The logs were about 6' long. I know this because half way back I stuck one in the snow to lean against and rest. They weren't heavy. Well, I see Scott carrying two at a time on each shoulder and realize I can do that. Great idea for his broad shoulders, but not mine. That's what did me in. Matter of fact I think it happened when I leaned the one log behind me to lean on then sliding it up to carry the rest of the way. Now mind you Scott always tells me to not overdo it, but I'm stubborn and was trying to make short work of it. I imagine that hauling firewood in, carrying water buckets to the barn, lifting feed sacks and spelunking in the cave with our son made the injury worse. I'm stubborn and just do what I gotta do when there's no one around to help. My thinking like this has changed. For me, physical therapy, ultrasound to provide deep heating, mild exercise with Therabands, and no volleyball for a couple of months helped me to recover. I can't imagine the pain from a 90% tear! I am glad that the surgery has been successful and wish you a complete and swift recovery. Youll recover, your stubborn, just remember then not to re-injure yourself.
