This star appears to be at/near maximum. Would someone who knows tell me how long during its roughly 360 day cycle, one might expect to see SS above magnitude 7.

Hi Otto. According to the AAVSO light curve, it would seem to be mag 7 & above for about 2 months of its cycle.

I observed SS Vir on 11 April, and estimated its brightness at magnitude +7.9. I would be interested to see how bright it does go...clear tonight according to the forecasts, so I'll be concentrating on Virgo.

It's definitely brightened, as last night (21 April UT) I estimated it at mag +7.2.

Still mag +7.2 as of 13 May, but one observer has estimated its brightness now at mag +6.9.
