The pic of Johns imaging rig reminded me of something....

Beware of critters in your car/trucks engine compartment. I believe something climbed up in John's engine, and goofed it up pretty good - took like a week before he could get it home?

Good advice. And don't investigate any vermin holes you find too closely. Likely badger. They aren't the best tempered beasts.

I put in for Friday the 15th off to try and make sure i have 2 good nights. That'll give me freedom to leave Thursday if i want. Man i hope it is clear like last time. I am bringing the z12 and the genesis sdf and i am hoping that the pst is already in my possession for a month or so by then so it goes to the Venus transit and pixieland. I really want a chance to practice with it before the transit so i know how to use it well by then.

Oh yeah no charcoal... I need to figure something out for cooking. I want one of those little suitcase size grills anyway. Carne asada...would be good.

Can't beat a 2 burner Coleman Stove with a stick. A friend picked up mine for me at a swap meet for $10, replacing one Anne & I received as a wedding present. It looked like it had been used maybe twice. It's cooked a lot of good meals! My personal preference is white gas, but the propane models are now more popular. White gas works no matter how cold it gets and canister disposal isn't a problem.

I know i am having at least one meal in town though. I like Gee's (probably spelled wrong) Chinese and sodbuster has good breakfast and lunch. For camp though i think i am going to do the Carne asada. It is very good, easy and no clean up. Easy to have enough to share too.

On a side note, i just got the confirmation email that my pst has shipped so we can look at one star during the day:-)

I think Bill has one. There was one set up last year at pixieland. I just don't know which one it was. I hope it is the same one i bought because i liked the views through his. There is one with double stacked h alpha filters too though.

Yes Sean, mine was the double stacked PST at Pixiland last year.

Sorry you missed it Steve. As I recall you were driving out on Saturday as I was driving in. Looking forward to meeting you this time.

To bad you are not coming down this weekend. The weather forecast looks stellar.

I couldn't agree more but then, who can the weather command? I'll be there one weekend from now, during the new moon. Are you going to venture up our way for the star party, Steve?

Incidentally, if you want to take advantage of our location this weekend, don't feel shy.

Not sure about next weekend. Boy, Saturday night will sure be good (warm!)- and, of coarse I have a gig :-( Sunday night will be good as well, I might try to sneak out to Rattlesnake Lake on Sunday evening.

My plan for Winthrop had one or two snag's that popped up... As I was driving home to load my gear, my CRX threw the timing belt. Had to call a friend to come tow it for me(and give me a ride home). Not to be discouraged, I went and picked up a new belt, but couldn't get the crank bolt loose...Arrrgh. Not to be discouraged, I realized friday night was now a wash but Saturday was still a possibility.

I hooked up the battery in my Cadillac...I'd forgotten how much I like that car. Expired Tabs!!... Not to be discouraged; I purchased a 3 day trip permit. I am now in Winthrop.

I made the customary stop at the Diablo Lake Overlook and snapped a quick shot.
