Solar Image
      #5230874 - 05/20/12 12:26 PM Attachment (137 downloads)

Greetings--

Been taking a few solar pics with my Questar in preparation
for the upcoming Venus transit. I've attached one from
yesterday; there's a full-size version on Flickr:

Thanks for looking,

R.W.

That is an amazing shot! Wow! I hope to get the Q Solar Observatory sometime next year. I've got a bit saving up to do first.

Terry

Thank you - very nice setup... I am thinking of a similar setup with my Q - I have been looking at the Lunt solar equipment,

Jason

What do you have in the very front of the scope?

The item with the large gold band is the Coronado
hydrogen alpha filter.

I've owned a PST but not a Lunt.
What items do you need after the Coronado Ha filter?

I knew that, I was talking about the thing in front of that. If that is the adjustable tuner, I thought it went between the filter and the scope. Or do you have something else on the tuner.

My apologies - the unit was shipped that way; the black ring rotates and adjusts or "tunes" the filter.

Very nice! What is the speed of your time-lapsed sun-movie?

Thanks.

The movie covers about 20 min, one frame per minute of
real-time (displayed at ~10 fps).
