Andrés,

I observe with glasses so the winged eyecups would not be useful to me.

Quote:

Congratulations Bill! Did you order the winged eyecups? IIRC this pair didn't have it. Those are very good at blocking stray light, so you may want them.

Kenny,

No, no neck strap, but they do have the most amazing aroma.

Bill,
Have you noticed that this smell only comes in Japanese stuff?
I've always considered it as a sign of quality even that a smell has nothing to do with that!
Enjoy!

I've also found that only Japanese manufacturers tend to have got the aroma of their new binoculars "just right".

Some of the latter day Chinese offerings smell positively putrid to me.

It's a fine line indeed between the eau de roast chestnut pungency of a typical 1960s vintage Zeiss and the sublime, almost "early 1960s new British car interior" aroma of a genuine Nikon or Fujinon.

The LOMO Soviet era cases and straps smelled fishy. The binoculars also, but maybe odor transferred from the case.

my 25x150MTs are 10 years old, so the smell is more me, or musty observatory,
when new, they were the smell of money being gone
