Hi everone,
Hopefully you saw the transit seeing was ok, here in WI but the next day and today have allowed me to see some really incredible details through my 1975 C-8 that behaves with a percise snap focus manner.
Anyways using a little over 50 power that being a 2in 38mm titan 70 eyepiece has been presented me with some incredible views.
As I type this personal report I have been observing the sun since 2 pm cst... normally try to observe a 3 hour session.
Been observing with 10 minute dilgent views each, and unfolding in front of my eyes is a new odd looking almost artifical looking three distict vertical dots which yesterday apperared as tiny etch -like black pepper grains.
Seeing the birth of a possible new sun spot group is well out right damn diggity exciting...! lol... I still say to myself is that "real" in front of my eyes...? WOW knock my socks off...!!!!
That Astro-Zap Baader solar filter is offering me breathtaking views, also been using a 2in Zummel variable polarzation filter set, with a 38mm eyepiecethat filter has quite of a few settings with the right rotation one can hit the "sweet spot" sharping further the edges of the white light sun image.
What confounds my logic is I'm seeing a "globe" floating in a sea of the blackest contrast of space, with a distict clearity that looks almost computer generated at times.
Not a "flat disc" but a actual solid globe with a roundness with actual depth.
3-D would be easier describing this optical illusion..? with a shape of a perfectly rounded egg...! hmmm...kinda of a oxy -moron how can a egg be a round sphere...? egg shape usually means elipical this rounded egg has that "plate of rice look" also.
Without those gusts of wind the view is awe inspiring what one can see with their own eyes.
The penumbra looks like iron filings very distict compare to the solid rich felt tip marker look on a satin white background.
Never knew the sun could been seen with such unusual clairty and depth to a subject period...incredible nothing beats having optics that are only limited to the seeing....!.
Best solar seeing !
Lance
ps: hopefully I'll have another day of this type of seeing the birth of a new large..? sunspot group..? hmmm time will tell.
