Differences bewteeen 8 bit and 16 bit autoguiders
      #5269880 - 06/13/12 04:29 PM

I wonder what practical difference exists between autoguiders that only differs by the conversion factor. I own an old SXV guider that I could refurbish with a bigger and more sensitive chip (the Sony ICX429 that you can find in the Loadstar autoguider) but that can only be used with a conversion factor of 8 bit rather than 16 bit like the Loadstar. Is the smaller conversion factor going to affect the overall sensitivity of the autoguider?
Thank you

Gianluca

It shouldn't affect anything directly.
