Having personally looked through this scope, I can certainly attest to it's first rate optics.

I was thinking of the TMB 92L which has the same optics except for the focuser right or am I wrong. Is the SS worth $500 more? thanks

I have the tank like version of the TMB (non L) and I like it a lot. The feathertouch focuser is awesome. You might want to check in the refractor section and ask about the L version and experiences with the focuser.

Optics are the same. However, the SS has a collimatable lens cell, the focuser is a Feather Touch, and it has an extension ring that lets you use a binoviewer without needing a Barlow when the extension is removed. The SS extension also lets you use verrrry long imaging equipment trains when it's removed.
