Had good transparency yesterday though was shooting in and out of clouds. Managed 33 x 60 secs with 85mm Prime lens and T2i piggybacked on C6. Lagoon and Sagittarius. Couldn't manage to eke out more details, perhaps next time I will try for more subs.

Thats a truely good capture Haseeb, and really great for just 60 second subs, i agree more subs would certainly help, but as it is, its just fine.

Wish we here in the UK could get a break and some decent skies, the jet stream is playing havoc as its slipped much further south over the UK.

regards,

Tom

Thanks Tom. That 85mm Canon prime lens is like a tiny refractor.

Nice shot Haseeb. Looks like you also got the Trifid Nebula (M20) in there.

Hi Guys,

Back again with a shot of Butterfly nebula. As described above, I have been working on my dual lens (300mm setup). I am still working on getting both cameras going (have only 1 Canon and needed a special cable for the Nikon to go beyond 30s) but did collect color data last night with the Canon.

I used the Astronomik CLS clip-in filter to fight the ever present light pollution. I dropped the ISO down to 800 and was able to get 5 min subs on the CG5 last night, losing only about 20% during stacking in DSS.

The diffraction spikes on Sadr are real and are produced by the blades on the lens!

300 mm Tair lens stepped down to f8
2 hrs of data (5 min subs)
30 min of darks
T3i (modded) ISO800
Combined the RGB data with the Ha data from previous post.

I really like PixInsight for aligning one data set with the another. Really easy to achieve and to my eye works perfectly. I combined both the Ha data and the color data in CS5 and had a pass through Noise Ninja. I want to try the processing again but I thought I would share where I am in this journey.

Best,

George

George, your image above of M 6 is beautiful and those dust clouds are very pronounced.

Congratulations to you, Haseeb, and to you, George, on two excellent images !

I only wish I could explore all that Sagittarius and Scorpius have to offer but they barely skim my horizon here in the southern UK.

At the moment though, I have to add that it wouldn't make any difference if they were even situated at the zenith ! As Tom, pointed out, the Jet Stream has slipped so far south as to envelope most of England in cloud for most of the last six weeks !

On the other hand,...... English summers ? So what's new ?

Best regards,
Tel

With all the great photos posted here, I'm a little intimidated to post my first attempt but here goes. This is my attempt at Albeiro from last night. I stacked in DSS.

Comments and help welcome.

A very nice capture of Albireo, James ! Many congratulations !

Can you remind me which camera you are using ? Certainly your CEGM seems well aligned !

There is still some hidden data in the image though, that I hope I've brought out by "tweaking" it in Photoshop. Do you have this software or alternatively have you tried freeware "Gimp" as a post stacking processor ? I've possibly asked this before, but at my age I'm told I'm permitted a few senior moments !

Hope you don't mind my "fiddling".

Best regards,
Tel
