Our first ES eyepiece arrived from Astronomics today after ordering it Sunday afternoon. It was a toss up between the 14mm/82 degree and the 16mm/68 degree. Since we already have the 17T4 for my scope I went for the 14mm. This new addition to the family will probably find a home in my son's 6" dob. If I can pry it out of his focuser, I might get to use it once in a while myself.
I'll report any appreciable field curvature when I get a chance
Thanks for the great service, Astronomics!!!
Cheers...Eric

Ditto as to Astronomics! As for the eyepiece I've got it and hope you like it as much as I do mine. David

Five weeks and counting from Astronomics on my ES Eyepieces. Six weeks and counting from Owl Astronomy. Just depends if its in stock or not. I'm beginning to believe that ES sold so many eyepieces during their sale, they're like deer in the headlights now wondering how they're going to produce them all that quickly. I certainly hope quality doesn't suffer. Anyone else experiencing delays on eyepieces?

What happened to first in first out? I am still waiting for my ES82 14mm eyepiece from Astronomics and I ordered before the OP? I sent an email to Astronomics and they say it should only be a few more days. Delays are to be expected but the shipments should be based on the order dates?

Due to the free shipping and the sale pricing margins are slim, so we choose to combine the shipments whenever possible. Sorry if this causes some weird FIFO moments, but in order to continue to provide the Cloudy Nights discounts and the free shipping this will happen from time to time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Within the past 30 days I've purchased an AT72ED and 24mm ES 68 from Astronomics. Both arrived very quick and in great packaging. As Gene said, because they sponsor CN, I try and always give them my business first.

Joe,
Hopefully your eyepiece will arrive shortly. I did order several other items on the same order as the eyepiece, but I don't know if that was a factor in it arriving quickly. Maybe it helped that I'm only "down the road" from Norman.
I know what it's like anticipating the arrival of a new toy. However, I don't mind waiting a few extra days if it's from trusted vendors like Astronomics, Agena Astro, Scope Stuff, etc.
Cheers...Eric

Pleasure doing business with Astronomics as well. Within the past 6 weeks I've purchased a Feathertouch crayford and 4 more ES ep's to add to my collection, among other misc items, all with free shipping and CN discounts.

Not blaming Astronomics, they're just a middle-man retailer. It isn't that I can't wait for the eyepieces. ES isn't doing themselves any favors with all the delays though.

First light last night for our new 14mm ES in my son's 6" dob. I only trained it on the moon and Saturn; however, I was duly impressed with the views it put up. I'll have to spend a lot more time with it to put it through its paces, but I suspect it'll get a lot of use throughout the summer and beyond. The views of the moon were as sharp and clear as any other eyepiece I use. My son likes to hunt down summer nebula and I think this EP will be just the ticket for him.
Cheers...Eric
