Here's an image of Cygnus in HaLRGB. The lens I used was the 55mm Nikon lens mated to an ST8300 + FW5-8300. The lens goes to f/1.8, but the quality of the stars suffered at the corners. Even now, it's not great at the corners. Also, polar alignment wasn't great, so some amount of field rotation is visible. Overall though, I'm pleased with the result.

Let me know what you think.

Here's the H-alpha only version as well. More detail to be seen here.

That's great Gabe! I think I'd like to just use the HA as the luminance with all of the detail that is in there, it looks like a bit of it was lost when combined.

Hope you don't mind, I couldn't resist trying that and here is what it looks like if you use the HA as the Luminance channel and then boost the colors back up.

What is really cool about your image is being able to see all of the famous nebula, North America, Pelican, Veil, Tulip, Crescent, etc and where they are located relative to each other!

Thanks Warren for the kind words. I don't at all mind. I had a version where I included the Ha as luminance, but the colors in the end were way off. More of the usual salmon color. I appreciate your suggestion. I should go back and see what I get. How did you tone back the salmon color in your processing?

Gabe

Nice shot Gabe....on Ha blending, blend into the red channel and keep an eye on the detail coming through(generally I'm happy with 50/60%)then do the same with you Ha to Luminance.

I don't hit these hard when stretching because that will effect your saturation and you'll end up with colors that aren't pleasing.

I don't sharpen the mono either but I do like to do some contrast work their before combing the new L/Ha or,super luminance If you like to call It that...this works great for me.

To get the color back I convert the image to LAB mode and then pump up both the reds and blues. Convert it back to RGB and then use Selective Colors to balance the Red to a tone that is more pleasing. Changing the image to LAB mode allows you to increase the colors without changing the other characteristics of the image.
