Here are three galaxies I observed on May 10th with a 76mm reflector. First is M63, this relatively bright galaxy looks nice in any telescope.

Next is M94, which is possibly the easiest galaxy to see. This galaxy has the appearance of a bright globular cluster and is a great target for small telescopes.

Last is NGC 4490. This odd galaxy and its companion are fascinating in a larger scope, but in a 70mm it is just a faint, vaguely rectangular glow.

BAM!
Go the small aperture, Tenth.
It takes some doing to squeeze all the juice out of a small aperture. It isn't all about aperture, but really pulling everything you can from what you've got. I am really impressed, mate!

TenthEnemy,
All 3 of these beauties are in the same piece of sky and if you have a sky like yours these great views are possible as you have shown with these superb sketches.

Very nice sketches. You must have been observing in reasonably dark skies.

Thank you all for the comments. I observed these galaxies from my front yard, deep in the "red zone" surrounding Washington D.C., this is where I make almost all of my observations and sketches. I think people often underestimate what can be accomplished under a bright suburban sky.

You are right about that. A lot can be done under those conditions. And, when the people are "thicker" there is more opportunity to show what can be done.

Very nice sketches. I am amazed you can get those with a 76mm reflector. Let alone from a red zone!!!
You must have owl vision.

Hi.
I join the other comments to tell you they are very nice sketches especially from a red zone. But I agree with you, lot of DSO are visible from my red zone backyard.
Andre.
