With the Moon so low in the sky (and seeing and transparency not so good), I choose a wide field sketch. But Mare Serenitatis was a little bit too big... after 2 hours of working only half was done properly. First sketch with grey pastelpencils. I think I will use them more in the future.
Interesting when viewed under high sun was the difference in color of the lava flows. On the east and south border they are darker (and older) than the rest of the sea. The area near the Apollo 17 landingsite is really dark (due to volcanic fire fountain deposits). The source of the impressive ray isn't sure. Tycho could be a candidate.

Jef,
Beautiful sketch of The Sea of Serenity. I like that you labelled it and included that wonderful ejecta ray that passes through Bessel and likely is from the Tycho forming impact. Trace that ray all the way back. Your lunar sketches are great.

Wow, You are very skilled. Looks great. Did I understand you correctly that you view in the daytime?
If so I like how you gave it a whiter washout look.

Jef, that is a very good sketch. I was observing that very same area a couple of nights ago and your sketch is very accurate. As Frank mentioned, I also traced that ray and it does seem to be from the Tycho impact.

Thanks all for the nice comments! I found it rather hard to sketch, with almost no shadows.

No. I guess "under high sun" let to confusion. I ment it was around midday at Mare Serenitatis, not for me. With a high sun you can see other details (albedo differences) than with a low sun (more shadows).

Jeff,
I like the half tone paper you used. Nice work - n ice luminosity about it.

The original paper is darker, but after scanning and changing the sketch to gray-colors it turns out to be just right.

very nice sketch, great detail, most prefer the more dramatic low sun views, but high sun views can also be very interesting.
