My addiction is now making me think telescope manufactures used the same marketing people that make hotdogs and hotdog buns, or my nephew’s toy train tracks, because somehow I always feel like I’m one adapter, or one piece shy of my perfect setup. I just purchased a 2” Zhumell focuser, which is larger and heavier than I realized it would be, but it’s nice. The focuser has also made it impossible for me to use my 2” celestron star diagonal without an adapter or some modifications. Wanted to see if any of you guys had a similar setup. I also have a 6.3 focal reducer that I think I won’t be able to use at all with this config because I’m scared the weight is going to start to be too much. Maybe I’m underestimating the strength of the threading. Anyway, I feel like the below picture is how I should set it up. (maybe without the focal reducer). So OTA, focuser, star diagonal, eyepiece. Problem is the focuser isn’t threaded on the part that extends out and the star diagonal is looking for a 2” thread to screw into. I’m sure someone makes this adapter, but I’d like someone who has done a similar setup to tell me which adapter will work before I shell out ANOTHER 50 bucks.
Thanks in advance for your experience everyone, Jim

That's exactly the adapter you need, mentioned above.
My diagonal came with both adapters so you can configure it depending on your setup.
Be sure to remove your diagonal's screw-on mount and replace using the new adapter in its place. The adapter screws directly into the diagonal body.

I was looking at the diagonal earlier and it looked to be threaded, but with a little bit of force it wasn't budging and I feared I'd break it if I gave it too much. Did you have to loosen anything to remove it or do I just need to man up and give her a good twist.
And Mark, thanks for showing me that adapter, I already have it ordered.

Just two cents from someone that is learning the ropes, I just purchased a 6.5 FR for my CPC 9.25 and found that am hardly able to put anything behind it (ie diagonal and extenders) because am not able to get anything to focus. Have found that must keep very short any extension mounted after FR.

Spacing after the FR should be a maximum of 110mm if you want the full .63x reduction. It can be as low as 75mm or so but you don't get as much focal reduction.
Problems using the SCT FR and the C9.25 are common as this scope doesn't seem to have as much focus range as other SCTs.

Which focal reducer? Do you mean "f/6.3 reducer/corrector"? If so, was it the Meade model, some of which do have backfocus problems. Your experience is not normal for an f/6.3 that works right.

^^^ Exactly. When I had my 9.25 I had no problem using an Antares 6.3 FR between the visual back and my 2" SCT thread-on diagonal.
