I'm getting my first "serious" scope and ordered an A-P Maxbright diagonal for it. I received the diagonal today. It does not have a 1 1/4" adapter, though the description talks about one. I don't see that they sell the adapter separately.
How do I attach my 1 1/4" EPs to this diagonal? Did A-P forget to include the adapter, or is there something about attaching a 1 1/4" EP that I don't know?
Obviously, I'm a newbie here. Thanks for your help!!

The Astro-Physics website lists the 1.25" adapter as an optional accessory. But to answer your question, yes, you need one of these in order to use 1.25" eyepieces. It seems a little silly to me that the adapter isn't a standard feature, since I can't imagine many people would buy the diagonal and NOT want the adapter.

A-P just got back to me, and have since updated their webpage as a consequence of my email to them. I need to get the adapter separately. Now I can't use my new scope for another week, waiting for the 1 1/4" adapter. Paid for express shipping on the diagonal too. Sometimes being a newbie stinks.
Rant over.

Sorry to hear you'll have to wait before using your new scope. This may be a dumb question, but are you sure that the scope's focuser doesn't have its own 2"/1.25" adapter? Because if it does, you can use this in place of the AP adapter. But regardless, it's a good thing you pointed this issue out to AP, and they updated their website in response. Hopefully this will keep other people from having to go through the same experience! And don't blame yourself for being a "newbie" astronomer. I've been doing this for quite a number of years, and could see myself easily making the same mistake. All the 2" diagonals I've bought over the years (Astro-Tech and Stellarvue) came with 1.25" adapters.

It's time A-P step up to the plate and deliver their product as advertised at the time you bought it. No ifs and buts. Free of charge and ASAP

Well in all fairness, their website didn't say the adapter was included. It also didn't say it wasn't included. It talked about the dimensions, when using the adapter, so I assumed it was a part of the package. They have since clarified on the website. But grrrrrrrr. I wanna use my new scope --which hasn't arrived yet--to look across my living room, because of course it's cloudy....

I don't know if it comes with an adapter or not. Like I said, I'm a newbie. Here's a link to it's picture. Do you see one there? I am buying it straight from William Optics.

Yes there is an adapter in the pic. Congratulations that is a beautiful scope by the way. No worries. In fact, the longer you stay in this hobby, the more 2"-1.25" adapters you will accumulate, until you wonder why anyone would include one when you already have at least five!
I'm partial to the Baader adapter T-15 myself for the AP Maxbrite as it has a little more secure fit with double thumbscrews, but there are lots of choices. Antares has an excellent Twist-Lock adapter that a lot of people like. I suggest first just using the one that comes with the scope in the diagonal and see how you like it, I'll bet it's just fine.

Hehe. Lots of gizmos in astronomy! Well, I have already ordered the adapter from A-P, but I will see if I can cancel the order tomorrow. I am happy to save a few bucks if the WO one works. Thanks for your help!!!

I see johnnyha already beat me to posting, but there clearly is an adapter of some type in the pic that you provided. Even better yet, the William Optics website lists the WO FLT110 as having an included 1.25" adapter. So I think you'll be okay. If you can cancel your AP order, you may just want to try that first. While there are slight variations in style, most 1.25" adapters are pretty much interchangeable.

If AP's website was misleading and they have had to change it then the least they can do is send you an adaptor FOC. Otherwise I would think that they could face a legal claim.

No offense intended, but that's the most ridiculous thing I've read on these forums in quite a while. Nowhere on the A-P website did it say, or imply, that the 2" to 1.25" adapter was included. As a matter of fact, all photos of the 2" Maxbright diagonal show it clearly WITHOUT the adapter. When I purchased mine several years ago, I was fully aware that the 2" to 1.25" adapter was an optional accessory, exactly as with the Tele Vue EverBrite 2" diagonal. "Legal claim" indeed.

I agree. Mistakes happen. There's really no need to call for suing Roland Christen just because his website was unclear. There's really nothing to be gained from that.

A-P didn't intend harm. I emailed them after they had closed for the day, and they still emailed me back quickly. (Only reason I even posted here, is I thought they wouldn't get back until the next day.) They also changed their website immediately to clarify things. I'm not mad at them. Just an impatient newbie.

Now be sure to post in the Refractors forum once your new scope arrives and you get a chance to test it out. This is mandatory!

I'm gonna take it to my first star party tonight! With my Porta II mount, just to make sure everyone laughs at me. Yeah, I know. Not stable enough. Actually by Vixen US standards, it is maybe 1 lb under the recommended weight of 20 lbs, with scope and all the stuff attached. But still not the greatest combo.
I just got a portable battery for the CGEM today, but no charger yet, so leaving the CGEM at home. That sucker weighs a lot anyway. It will go when we have better skies and I have a charged battery for it.
