I just measured my 4" f/15 Jaegaers that I purchased a few months ago and the diameter is 4-1/8"

I am guessing the lens (when it arrives *sigh*) is likely to be a sister to the one Dave has. So I can probably hone out the existing cell to accommodate the extra diameter. That just leaves the increased thickness.
Come on AusPost - where is my lens!

4 1/8" might work. I have ordered the lens and will see if it will fit the lens cells I have. If it does not I will place the lens cell on my rotary table and see if I can mill it out a bit more and still have a cell that will work.I hope the thickness of the lens will not be a problem.

Well folks, the Jeagers lens is too large. The lens is larger then the OD of the lens cell. Found out the 4" cells I do have were machined out by Unitron for the Edmunds 4" lens. I even checked some extra really nice 4" lenses I have and they were also too large for the Unitron 4" cell.

Mine too - 4.25 inches. I will be off to the scrap yard to pick up some aluminium this weekend. In the meantime I have been busy restoring the rest of the scope. Timing is good as the skies in Brisbane have been the colour of lead for days and likely to remain that way for a while. Thanks for all your suggestions. I will post some pictures of the lens cell once its together.

Let me check the lens cell collection. I might have a cell that will fit. hmmmmm, come to think of it I do have a cell that came from a Red Edmunds 4" refractor. I think that would be to small. I will look and let you know.
