How do I mount a C9.25 to an Orion Atlas GEM? new
      #52764 - 02/10/04 02:51 AM

I've got a C9.25 with a 4 inch wide by 18 inch long dovetail bar, and an Orion Atlas that accepts skinny dovetails, around 1.75" wide. Do I need a new dovetail, a new dovetail clamp for the mount, or some kind of adapter to bring these things together? And where would I buy the solution? Thanks.

Mark

You have a CGE dovetail, likely orange colored. You need to get a CG-5 type dovetail. This will fit an Atlas mount.

Or you can get a custom dovetail made by someone (i.e. Ken of Ken's Rings and Things) which will be a more secure fit to this mount (the CG-5 dovetail is about 1.5" and so more subject to flexing -- OTOH it's easier to put the scope on as you can just lower it in the slot, rather than slide from one end.

Ken's Rings has an adapter that does the job. Thanks!
