I ordered around Jul 29th, never got a peep of confirmation other than from Paypal. Still waiting on it.
Rex, did your copy arrive via USPS? Did they just drop it off or you had to collect it?
I don't know Peter. It was on my front porch when I went home from work for lunch a few weeks ago. I don't mind them dropping it off like that, but I wish they'd put it somewhere on the porch where it isn't so visible from the street.

Peter, I ordered my GATS on July 31st, still waiting on it like you. Recently I emailed Piotr and received a reply and tracking number. Mine was shipped on August 28th and arrived in Jersey City NJ on September 28th. I'm anticipating it will arrive within a week.

Checked tracking status today and it is in Cincinnati now. Only 120 miles more to complete its journey from Poland.

hmph. my view is that this one was no longer in print as soon as it was printed.
the old vehrenberg three volume photographic atlas would actually be more valuable to own, because it's photographic data, flawlessly printed. whereas the "great atlas" is run through a computer 5 or 50 times ... if that's your thing, why not use planetarium software? stellarium goes down to mag.15, i think.

Yes, software has its advantages, and I find Sky Safari Pro a sheer joy to use on my iPad. But for myself, there's still something very special about a great big honking printed atlas.

Okay, I have been assembling my GAOTS and only have 52 more pages to put reinforcement rings on. Whew-hoo! Anyway, I need to know how folks have handled the folds on the pages that keep stacking up on the right. Currently with only around 100 of them in there, the folded edges stick up above the height of the exterior black zipper binder. By the time I get the last 52 pages in there, the folded edges of the charts will be way above the binder. How have others addressed this? I don't want to rip the zipper out of the binder. Any solutions?
By the way I love this atlas. It will probably be the last of its kind. I am honored to own one.
Thanks Piotr.

I had absolutely no problem to zip my GAOTS after placing all the ring.

Since I'm located in the UK, I decided to store the southern charts in its box, as there's plenty to study in my hemisphere for awhile.
Considering the size of the Atlas, it would be nice to have an additional binder.

Mike, that's a great idea. Otherwise the binder is just too stuffed for my taste.

Sounds like one of you is putting the reinforcements on both sides, and one on just one side. Maybe just single-side the last 52 pages, or leave them un-reinforced?

I reinforced all the charts on one side.

I put the re-inforcements on both the sides of the binder holes on the maps. It took me a total of >3 hours to complete it.

Hi. I reinforced all holes, both sides, with what I believe are standard thickness reinforcing rings, as opposed to ultra thin types, but I had no problems with closing the zipper. As always, care is the key.
