It was quite a time ago that I had the chance to sketch something from the moon. This evening the situation was not very favourable. The moon stood low in the still bright sky. I used my 8 cm Apo at 120 together with a red filter. I know there are more details possible at this fine pairs of craters. But that was what I could get this evening.
The image is mirror reversed.

Hi Uwe,
that's a very nice sketch. I am still waiting my turn to have the moon in the right disposition for a pose

That's a pity! In summer deep-sky observing time is limited and I have a lot of time to observe during holiday... Why is the Moon not higher in the sky?

Uwe,
This is a very fine work. Your sketches of the lunar features are always excellent. When your seeing is not the best your sketches continue to shine through. Impressive!

As Frank once wrote "less is more sometimes". Uwe, this is one of those occasions. The proportions, shading, and detail are just lovely.
