Thanks for a comprehensive review. I've been thinking about buying one of these, for pretty much the same reasons. I'm getting quicker and quicker about setting up my EQ mount, but I still find it to be drudgery and frankly I think that's been keeping me inside.
My only concern about the product is this: can it damage the scope's finish under windy conditions? I used to have an old car stored outdoors under a tarp (don't ask), and I found that a tarp cover blowing in the wind will neatly beat the paint right off of panel edges, or anywhere else exposed to repeated contact with such a moving surface. I'm sure this cover is considerably more elegant than a cheap plastic tarp, but I've gotta ask.

Well, I havent had any paint damage to my scope and I can post a pic of the rig. Thing is that it fits snugly around the rig, and not overly tight, and I do have the bungee strap around the bottom, securing it from flapping around. Weve had pretty lousy skies all summer here but I will post a pic of my rig later and show you.

I've got one for my C11 / CGE PRO and it works great. This is one accessory that has been worth every penny to me!

A great review ans couldn't agree more. Mine's kept my gear protected year-round for 2 years in the most appalling weather.

Nice review, Jason. I haven't yet tested out my TG 365 cover under such extreme conditions as you have, but it's nice to know that it should be up to the task if I ever need that type of protection!

Great review Jason!
I have the basic Telegizmo cover and i have kept it on my CG5/C8 since June, and its done brilliantly through heat, rain and wind.
I am thinking of keeping my tripod out over the winter, here in the NorthEast, but bringing in the mounthead and scope. I had not been considering keeping the whole rig out over the winter, but maybe with the 365 cover, at least the tripod+mount would be protected well enough to consider... Interesting idea... I am going to inquire in the mounts forum on this thread...

i've been very happy with mine going on 3 years customer service is great if you need it. fwiw i take one scope inside and leave the mount out with no loss of polar alignment, other stays out on dedicated fork mount. here's a satillite's view of my two covers (center of courtyard)
biggest scare: found a brown widow with egg sac attached to the inside of the cover. check your covers and clean your tripod feet if you live in spider country. found the beginning of a wasp nest on another occasion (one cell)

You know thats interesting for those who use tripods. Since Telegizmos does custom covers (and by the way they are extremely customer service and idea friendly and communicate nearly instantly via email) I wonder if they would maybe craft one that may be a two part cover - maybe bottom flanged to completely cover the mount between tripod legs at the underside to keep critters out; with an overlay skirt for the mount legs?
Interesting concept and I would bet Bob over at Telegizmos would at the least be willing to listen.

For 4 years I kept my TEC Fluorite apo under a Telegizmos 365 for 4 months during the summer. The scope was too big to put up and take down for each observing session. I did keep a light bulb on under the over to keep moisture out. The scope was not damaged in Any way by leaving it out under the Telegizmos 365 tarp. I just sold the scope for $35k about a month ago.
Best,
JimP

I hadn't thought about the inside of the 365 cover harming the OTA paint but I've always been worried about some of the edges of the scope /finder/etc harming the inside of the 365 cover. I always drape a large towel over the OTA before I put the cover on. Two winters and 2 summers and so far no damage to OTA or inner cover. The outer cover is begining to get a little patina.

Yours is a most interesting review and relevant to me.I'm about 140 miles sw of you and know all to well about the restrictions and concerns of small observatories in our area.I never have even considered such an item but think I might reconsider. At my age even setting up the cg5 is a minor struggle ,let alone the OTA.This might really make things simple. Thanks for shareing your input and review!
