Takahashi EM-10 Mount power supply? new
      #5355442 - 08/06/12 08:38 PM

Hi there!
I recently bought a EM-10 mount. I have a AC adaptor (sic) made by Mitsuoka that outputs 13.8V 1.3A that came with it but I'm not sure if it's for the mount. I thought it would be 12V.
Don't want to blow my circuits. Any advice?

Thank you so much!
Ruimteman

As long as the polarity is correct (i believe center is +) you will be fine. Many Tak mounts run 12-24V. The higher voltage gives higher speeds. The newer mounts fun high speed on 12 volts
Call Texas Nautical Repair and talk to Art or Fred if you are worried

Thank you! I was worried it would only run on 12 or 24, but it makes sense that it has some tolerance. Tried the mount today with a 12V battery, at first I thought it wasn't working, doesn't seem to slew at high speed setting, but then I heard the faint clicking of the stepping motor and when I left it for a while I could see it moved. I suppose the "high speed" is just for centering targets, not so much for slewing to them (?).

The high speed on 12v is very slow, I believe the EM10 USD has a time limit of how long you can run in high speed before you risk over heating.

Yes, found an online manual. Don't run high speed for more than a minute!
