Don,

Your ability to write matches Jason's and Jim's ability to illustrate.

Great piece!

Roy

Thanks, Jim, Roy and Jeff.
I got a lot of feedback after version 3, and some of the clarifications and re-writes became version 4.
I'm not satisfied with the text in a couple places, and I've gotten requests to add laser collimation to the article, so there will be a version 5.

I'm bumping this thread because I've gotten a lot of requests for this article recently.

Fantastic! Newtonian scopes keep increasing in my inventory and your article will be my bedside reading for a while. I need to read it and apply the instructions several times before the whole procedure becomes second nature to me. Laser instructions will be greatly appreciated as well. I have both Glatter and Catseye tools now and started playing with them already. The views through my Newtonians are much better now. I must confess, the Paracorr II made a huge improvement as well. Would you be able to delve into collimation with Paracorr in the focuser as well?

Thanks a lot for this great write up!

Thanks, Don well thought out piece. This much is never available in one place. I'm just rehabbing my 8" so it'll be put to use.
