Some globulars from last night
      #5363012 - 08/11/12 09:08 AM

Managed to grab a couple hours sketching last night.
I set myself a goal a couple months ago of sketching the Messier objects and its something I'm really enjoying.
These globulars have become my favourite objects to sketch, so many different shapes and asterisms inside them that I missed before I started sketching.

Terrific sketches, Mike. I took a gander at M12 last night and your sketch very much represents what I saw.

These are such life like representations. You really capture the view just as I remember from my past 12.5 and 13.What are you using for the white?

Mike,

These are very fine captures of these globulars. When you look at these you can clearly see the variations in shape and brightness. Inspiring!

Frank

I use the Mellish technique so use white pastels and white ink pen.

M2 and M14 seem to have a sort of 3-D quality to them. Very nicely done!

Mike, you've captured the unique features of each GC very nicely. I too love GC's. Each pocesses its own "signature", and no two are alike.

M4 is also a fav' of mine with its striking 'belt'. If you are up for a challenge, try for the little GC that resides within the boundary of the giant cluster M7. It will test you to tease out detail from it at high magnification as it is highly obscured by galactic dust. I use this little GC as a quick check of seeing conditions too.

Alex.
