I had a good observing session last night. NGC 457 was from my darker site. Which probably didn't matter with this cluster.
M13 was a couple weeks ago at home in light pollution. Both were through my 10inch dob.
NGC 457 at 52x using a 24mm ES 68*. M13 I am not sure what mag I used at the time.
I viewed M13 last night from a green zone and it looked totally different than what I observed for this sketch. Lots more stars, streamers more evident. Looked very spider like.
I also viewed NGC 6960 & 6995 which were great through a UHC filter. I stumbled across NGC 7209, M103, and got a surprising view of NGC 6946 fireworks galaxy. I was only able to see mainly the core but it was still impressive. I have never been able to see this galaxy from home.
I kind of ran out of time. I wish I could of sketched more of the targets I viewed but the moon cut that short.

Christopher,
Great sketching and a nice report. There is no substitute for a dark sky.

Thanks fellas, I love ngc 457 it is one of my favorites. But, for some reason the first thing I think of when I see it through a scope is the Frankenstein Movie with Gene Wilder. The Igor character with one eye bigger than the other. The brighter eye in the cluster makes me think of this.
I loved this movie when I was younger so I guess that's where it comes from.
M13 looked so much better from the dark site last night. Comparing it to my sketch from home it was totally different. So many stars and a lot brighter.

Terrific work, Christopher!
And, yes I laughed my head off with this movie. Now I will look at ngc 457 with Igor in mind!
