hi,
just recently I've decided to start a new project, mainly to keep my "astro-mood" high. one night I've introduced WZ Cas, a nice deeply red star with a bluish companion to my friend and she showed me RS Cyg. I was thinking that there maybe even more spectacular stars like these and that's how my colour-fever started.
so I've started to collect information and catalogues of stars that were REALLY colourful visually: variable stars, red giants, carbon stars, binaries with a nicely contrasting companion or simply stars with a remarkable colour.
here's the first bucket of stars I've "catalogued", currently all of them are in a fine position on the sky for the Northern hemisphere observers:
HIP 100155
Albireo
T Lyrae
U Cygni
AX Cygni
RS Cygni
WDS H 4 114
for larger images and detailed observation logs for these objects, please visit my TVICS page: here it is
if you know any other stars you think I should visit at this time of the year or later, please let me know. sketches are also welcome, feel free to hijack this thread!
thank you and clear skies!

Very nice project that should keep your enthousiasm at a high level. These are a beautiful set of sketches. I wish I could see them (your sketches) at a higher magnification.
Very fine work starquake!

Ferenc,
These are all beauties. U Cyg gets just as red as T Lyr in your fine sketches when it nears minimum magnitude. Excellent post.

This is a very nice series. Wonderful idea. We do something similar in a non-sketch form as we run new observers through a few stars, so they begin to appreciate how they are unique visually.

Two more carbon stars which come to mind; V Aql and S Cep. The latter has a large range of variability, and I don't know its current magnitude, not having observed it for more than a year.

Thanks all for your comments, and especially thank you Glenn for the hints, I'll check these stars as soon as possible, especially now that Cepheus is in a fine position on my sky.
I've just added two more colorful sketches to the collection:
WZ Cas
Mu Cephei
WZ Cas is my all time favorite, it's really like a small-scale Albireo with its contrasting blue companion, and Mu Cephei (or Herschel's Garnet Star) is a famous supergiant and superluminous star.

Unfortunately we had a terribly cloudy period behind us, so I had a very limited observing time. So I only have two more stars to add to the list, but I hope things will get better now.
 Almach (Gamma Andromedae)
 UU Aurigae
Almach is a very nice colour contrasting binary with large difference in the brightness of its components. UU Aurigae is a variable star with a very nice orange/red colour. Both very bright, so easy target for smaller scopes too.

Ah... Fantastic and very interesting work, Ferenc. I'm glad to see how passionate you are about stars with obvious colour because this is something that is often neglected. Keep up the good work!

Thank you all for your compliments.
Here's one more from this evening:
